Many customers have been waiting for this: From now on it is also possible to manufacture cosmetic packaging from recycled plastics – which previously failed due to the lack of certificates. Because plastic packaging for cosmetic articles must have special quality features – and recycled plastic granulates could not show them. Until now – because Frielinghaus recently started working with a recyclate supplier who is able to process plastics in such a way that they receive the certificate for the cosmetics industry.

In order to achieve this result, the delivered material is subjected to strict incoming controls. It is then crushed and washed by means of wet grinding before all foreign substances are sorted out with the help of eddy current separation, air sifting, swim-sink separation and optical detection. Through the use of single-screw and twin-screw extruders, high-quality granulates are created, which convince with properties similar to new goods – and can also be used for the cosmetics sector.
